Found Baby Duck! Can't Keep Head Up, Is This Normal? Will It Die?! (PICS INSIDE)?

Basically today I saw something from far away that was yellow and was wobbling it feet, I thought it might have been a turtle but when I got there it was a baby duck that was on it's back and couldn't get up. It looked very weak and it's mother was not there. She showed up later with tons of baby ducks swimming in the water. When I tried to put the duck in the water to see if it could swim it didn't want to swim, so maybe it was hurt? I tried to give it to the mom, but she just stepped all over it! :O I don't think it's hurt, it seems fine, but there's something about the way it tilts it's head when it's sleeping. This duck is asleep basically all day. Here's some pics: http://i51.tinypic.com/k9duoi.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/9jp0ms.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/30nezbo.jpg Is this normal? What can I feed it? I need help, I've never had a duck before. I want to take it to an animal shelter, but I'm afraid they won't take care of it. :'[ Hi guys! I actually called a Vet and he gave me the number to a place called WildCare and they do daily pick ups at my local animal shelter and they would love to care for this baby duck! I'm so happy I actually cried tears of joy. :') Thanks all of you for being so nice!

  1. It's probably best to find a local SPCA, they take care of birds and ducks, then release them into the wild again once they are better. :)
  2. well its still young so maybe its a little weak. feed it lettuce and carrots and bread. if it can walk then take it for a walk just give it energy
  3. awwwwwwwww bless your heart for taken that duck in
  4. The best thing to do would be to take it to a local RSPCA. They will definitely take care of it and when he is well enough, they will release him back into the wild where he belongs. Don't worry about them not taking care of it because that would be animal cruelty and an animal shelter actually stops that kind of thing so make sure that he gets to one! I have looked at the pictures and he is very cute! Good luck with taking care of him for now and I hope this helps!
