why did mailer -daemon return letters/numbers instead of the pictures sent.? W98 sec edition?

I sent a page full of pictures of tiny animal babies, when returned by mailer-daemon, no pictures at all. A long list of what the pics were with alot of words, abbreviations, codes, etc.
