Are acme2k computer pranks safe?

My room mate played a computer prank on me from the site acme2k.com, he said it is safe, and the site did offer a prank unistaller. Should I be worried? My room mate says he plays them at work and there are no viruses. As a person who has had a virus in the past, it was a nasty experience, and I just don't want to go through that again. Does anyone know if the site is safe? If it is not safe how can they promote material like that, wouldn't it be illegal?
