firework pictures, need help?
So, there is firework display tomorrow at London, so i will attend it probably. So my equipment is 18-55mm f/3.5-f/5.6 and 75-300 f/4.5-f/5.6. Which one should i use? and what settings to use. I have tripod and will use it that's for sure. But i have`nt got trigger for remote Release. I will really appreciate any tips. Thanks. .

- Go beforehand (in the light) and compose shots with both lenses and pick the one that offers the best composition for where the fireworks will be in the sky. The lack of the remote is tough but you could set shutter speed priority and set a fairly long exposure, use the self timer function, release the shutter on the button before the fireworks explode, let the camera open the shutter and hold it open and close it with your hands off of it. This is gonna take a fair degree of luck, but you might get a few good shots.
- this works... set F11, F16 at 100 asa... ( F22 if you have it) rotate the camera vertically so the bottom edge is parrallel to the ground... now it ought to be seeing a whole lot of sky... set your meter for average weighted, and put it on Aperture priority.... the only thing moving is them fireworks... everything else is stationary... isnt it? to 2 or 3 second exposures will get you great results... if the night is clear, youll get the lights of teh city, the rocket tails and teh starbursts all in the same frame... BUT... fireworks generate shedloads of smoke... which esp at night, will make your camera as blind as a bat... so... remember your at F22... DOF is huge... manually focus the camera and lock it... so you dont get it hunting for focus... and miss teh shot. long fast lenses also work... put it on a tripod, release teh axis locks and swivel and shoot... (this reduces camera shake.)
