Puppets...Ideas?

i need to amke a puppet and need ideas...link...pics. I would like to make a pirate or an animal...anything cute...please help... thanks!

2. Do you know what you want to use to make your puppet? Do you need a hand puppet, a finger puppet or a stick puppet? For a finger puppet or a stick puppet, you can find a picture of what you want (even "Captain Jack Sparrow," if you want him as your pirate). Print out the picture or pull it out of a magazine, paste it to card stock (to make it stiff enough) and cut it out. Then either paste it to a Popsicle stick or to a strip of card stock large enough to encircle your finger. An easy hand puppet could be made either from a paper bag or from a sock. Hair can be made from yarn or felt pieces. Eyes can be cut from material, paper, or made from purchased "google eyes". Use your imagination to come up with ideas to embellish your puppet. Paint, beads, feathers, anything could work! Moving arms or legs can be done on any puppet by attaching it to the main puppet with knotted thread or string, a brad, a bent pin or even an earring (stud on one side, backing on the other), and then using a separate stick to manipulate the appendage (think of the Muppets). Most important: Have fun with it!
3. My friend Rob D'Arc here in Seattle taught me how to make puppets quickly that turn out very nice and professional looking. Thick craft sticks and fun-foam. I put together a spoof for my ren faire group in about a week--it was great. As all puppeteers do, he learned it from another...Uncle Duke. That's the best advice I can give--find out if your town has a puppet guild and go to a meeting.
