Is it OK for my mom to be paranoid about me being on YouTube?
My mom is very paranoid about me being on YouTube. She thinks I watch bad videos or something. Today, I was just watching a funny prank video about this guy pranking his aunt for not locking the door, and she came in and looked at it for very, very long. Then she keeps pointing at different parts of the page asking me "what is this?" and "open this up" and other stuff. I tell her that I'm just watching a funny video, but she is still paranoid... What should I do?

- She might be worried that you are posting. Just tell her that you're a watcher not a participatee.
- She is your mom. It is her job to be paranoid.
- you are fine. the news tells people that youtube is bad but its not
- Let her sit and watch the videos with you. Don't shut her out. She'll soon get bored with your tastes in entertainment! :o)
- Has you given her any reason not to trust you? If you have this could be it. If you haven't she's probably just overprotective like my mother was and still is to an extent. She gives me my space and she respects my decisions I make and trusts that I won't look at bad stuff. Your mom should trust you and if she's brought you up right then she should know you wouldn't do that.
- show her the community guidelines. Youtube cannot CANNOT show any nudity of extreme violence. Every video is aimed to be general user friendly. (A general user being 12-19). If someone puts up say a pornographic video it will be taken down immediately. Here are the guidelines http://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines The first guideline is nothing pornographic. I'm guessing that's what she was worried about.
- Moms just want the best for their kids. They don't want their kids seeing bad stuff on the internet. If you can be honest and sincere, reassure your mom that you are not watching bad stuff on the internet. But, if you are watching bad stuff, then you need to stop it, because those pictures will be in your head forever. Don't put garbage in your head and tell your mom you're sorry. Your mom loves you...give her a hug.
