My Funny Picture

My new HD tv is 1080dp but the picture is strange and moves in a weird fast-motion?

the broadcast is from a regular standard definition channel so that may explain it but the picture often appears to move in a fast-motion manner which seems unnatural. Also was watching lord of the rings on sky movies and altho much of the film if CGI it looked completely like a computer game! I have checked review sites which say you can clibrate the tv to get better picture and audio but don't tell you how - where can i find this out or get a fix? P.S. it was an expensive tv so i expected better

1. THERE ARE SO MANY SETTINGS THAT MAKE FILM LOOK LIKE VIDEO TO GO INTO HERE. START BY ADJUST THE 120HZ SETTING TO THE LOWEST SETTING. THAT'S ONE OF THE MOST MISUSED FEATURES. A HIGH END SET HAS A LOT OF CHOICES. JUST FIDDLE AROUND TILL YOU GET IT LOOKING THE WAY YOU WANT. IDEALLY ALL SETS SHOULD BE CALIBRATED BUT A PRO CAN ACCESS SETTINGS HIDDEN FORM CONSUMERS. THEY ALSO USE SPECIAL EQUIPMENT PLACED ON THE SCREEN. AND IT'S EXPENSIVE.
