why do goths like stuff that are really weird?

I have no idea why goths like the stuff that are really weird..? maybe because im not goth but...it still isn't understandable. They wear baggy, heavy(chains), black bathrobes during the summer they talk about death, looking at pictures of weird stuff..zombies etc.. they also listen to death metal( I cant understand the lyrics...thank god I cant understand because they are talking about raping someone to death..) so why do they like these stuff? wow...some of these people would say being a psychopath is a personality also because they like killing..

1. If they didn't like that stuff, then they wouldn't be goth now would they? On a serious note, I'm not goth but I know they don't like that zombies and death and stuff. Goth is a style, just like how.. preppy is, and emo. I mean, I can wear that stuff but have a different personality. Lol don't generalize too much. :)
2. Everyone has different tastes. Asking this is like asking someone why they like wearing dresses, or the color orange. Who really knows? It's all personality.
3. well its there way of expression. alot goes back to the gothic period in Europe....it was quite dark just as they dress now. Theres nothing wrong with it, just bc you dont understand it, it doesnt make it weird.
4. i dont believe you know any goths. most goths arent in to anything much different from you. if you know a goth person who is the way you described then chances are they are a poser who does what they think goth people do.

7. Actually you are referring to mallgoths, since they're the ones who wear the baggy pants with chains and listen to metal. Neither of those things are related to the actual subculture (real goth fashion can be much more sophisticated - styles vary, but think corsets, velvet, and lace for many goths. Also real goth music originally came out of punk and post-punk.) Many real goths though are into darker themed stuff (although I doubt in the same vein that you are thinking, most real goths aren't going to obsess over death in like a dark sinister fashion). Definitely not all are into it, but many real goths do enjoy all things dark such as spiders/cobwebs, bats, cemeteries, etc. I personally am into dark stuff, but I like the cheesy side of things. My apartment is decorated with Halloween stuff all year around, but it's because of the kitsch factor. That's really why I love stuff like spiders and bats, it's just so tacky, it's cool. That, and I've also been fascinated with darker stuff since I was a child (as far back as like the ages of 6 or 7 at least), always liked reading about the supernatural and horror-related stuff. I have no idea why, but it's just always interested me. So really it's my interests that attracted me to the goth scene, not the goth scene that developed my interests.
8. I don't know. Maybe some of the things you like I'd consider weird. The only think that fits your actual description of a goth is the chains and baggy pants. And that is really only what some goths wear (I being one of those goths) Death metal isn't goth. Yes, a lot of goths listen to death metal but death metal is mainly one of the musical genres of metal heads. We have our own genre of music and we mostly stick to our music. What you have described is the poser goth. They are the ones who sit around talking about how great it would be to die. The true goths may talk about death but only if it's in a song or novel or such or we may just discuss it in poetic means. And we do not look at pictures of zombies and such. I have friends who are normal and are more obsessed with death and zombies than I or my other gothic friends. I seriously suggest that you do research on something before you right off the bat judge it or the people involved in it. Goths are artist (painters, writers, musicians and such.) We love music, mainly gothic music but we aren't closed minded (like you appeaer to be) we branch out our musical tastes, we are free thinkers and tend to notice the beauty in everything around us, we also enjoy fashion. If you have noticed very few goths dress alike. We look at fashion as a way of expressing ourselfs as well. If you think goths are weird than I can think that you are closed minded and arrogant.
