Is it really weird to be fascinated by torture?

I would never, EVER torture someone or something, but when I see pictures or read things about torture...I'm not completely disgusted by it, sort of fascinated. Is this really weird? Does anyone else think this? I don't think of it as "Wow, look at that." I'm fascinated that people could even do that...How weird the world is. Umm, I'm not saying I like torture, I'm amazed that people could do such horrible things.

2. I think there is always a kind of morbid fascination with taboo subjects in our culture.(western culture) For some reason we like to be shocked. I think it's some kind of lack of peace inside. It seems to be the same part of us that needs excitement, entertainment and stimulation all the time. Maybe because otherwise our lives are so mundane and routine and sanitised in the west. We want something to shake us up and make us feel something strongly. I think this is also why people get into all the evangelical religious experiences and other extreme forms of behaviour as well.
3. Do you like Sadomaso? Yeah it is really weird. It is not how a fully functioning mind of a human being should react :S Maybe you should see a psychologist before this worsten.. you never know..
4. It's nor weird at all, it is absolutely normal. We are animals and we still have very strong instincts. The thirst for blood has never left us completely. Of course, we are, too, divided into two categories: wild and tamed, so to say. The fact that you are kind of fascinated by torture tells me that you're still wild. You're a hunter. Don't worry, you'll never be able to torture anyone, your education and your being able to make the difference between right and wrong (which you got through education) will stop you from doing anything like that. The ones who declare loudly that they're disgusted by people like you or by the ones who admit that they're fascinated, in a way, by torture, are more likely to do it.

6. i would not use the word 'fascinated' 'cause when i saw your question, i was like 'what a sick freak!'..
7. i'm fascinated whenever i read stories about people who are abused whether it be by spouses, their parents, girlfriends, boyfriends, etc. like you, i am interested and amazed at how one person could treat another so horribly and how ugly human nature can be. for instance, there's this book i once read called, "Push" in which a young girl is raped by her father from the age of 2 on, then she has two children by him and her mother forces her to gorge on food and also molests her. it was horrible and offensive, but very interesting to me at the same time. i don't think it's because i'm really weird or gross.
