why do I look funny in photos where flash is used?
I look really funny in pictures where flash has been used in a dark room like a nightclub, however in photos where there is no flash I look alright. Is there any reason for this?

- maybe it's because you're blinding yourself?
- bad photographers, plain and simple, if a good one shoot you you would look good in all the images they make - if they are good good fotogs use flash to make people captures, weak fotogs are scared of flash great portrait shooters like Yousuf Karsh et cetera all use flash they hate "natural light", it is so lame and fickle and uncontrolable - like a painter painting on a rocking boat in 90knot wind hoping to hit the right stroke.... http://images.google.co.nz/images?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-us%3AIE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7GGLD_en&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=Yousuf+Karsh+portriats
- I"m guessing that the flash used in the club is a direct blast from either a built in flash or an external flash. This type of lighting is harsh. It looks good in some places, but often not so good. Direct flash will find every imperfection and make it visible in the image. It also has a very quick transition from very light to very dark in an image. Probably the worst place to put a flash is right over the lens, which is where the built in flash is, and where the hot shoe is. If you were taking a portrait, the light would be diffused. Minor blemishes don't show up. There is a gradual light to grey to dark transition. And if you put the light a little to the side (or use multiple lights) you have a situation that creates shadows more like you would see outside on an average day.
