My Funny Picture

Is it fair for me to get in trouble at school for drawing graphic pictures? How do I get the book back?

When I get bored in English class I draw. I have this play sketch book that I use and don't really draw nice pictures, I draw quick play pictures in it. In the book, I like to draw people getting killed and stuff and it is funny. There are a lot of pictures in the book like one of a guy getting his brains blown out and hanging out the other side, and people getting stabbed and killed and stuff with internal organs showing. I sit behind this fat boy in my English class so I cower behind him and have a lot of space to not be seen. I finished my assignment early and took out the book and started drawing in it. I was drawing a picture of a guy laying on the table with a hole in his stomach and his guts hanging out and stuff. You know how the teachers wander around? Well he was wandering around and he saw it and took my book. He looked through at all the pictures and I got a detention and he said he might call my parents and tell them. But it was only organs and stuff, I mean, what's wrong with that? Do you think it was fair for me to get in trouble just because he found it bad? And is there any way I can get any with and so my mom won't see the book? She'll think I'm crazy. I need to somehow get the book. How can I get the book back or convince him not to show my mom? No I mean I want the book back because I need to get it before my mom sees it. I need to somehow get it back if they do contact my mom but idk how.

1. hahahhah you should have seen the things my friend drew in grade 8 (2 years ago) the teacher took her note away once and she got sent to the principles office, and was suspended for a week thats how bad they were.
2. most people who do this are most likely to repeat columbine...so i wouldnt blame your teacher if he is a bit frightened.
3. thats not fair. i mean i dont get why youre drawing that but its not fair to get in trouble for drawing. i would go to the teacher or the principal and ask them what is so wrong about what you did.

8. They might think you have a problem, because thats kinda wierd that you think people getting killed in a brutal way is funny. But if you finished your assignment early and didnt have any other missing assignments or homework to do then they should of just told you to put it away. To get the book back, i would just tell them that i would keep my drawings away from school and just draw them at home or something.
9. if they took your book, they probably wont give it back. just warning you- you might get in trouble for having violent pictures because they may think you are a violent person. while i dont really think that drawing violence = a violent person, schools normally WILL and send you to a psychologist, even if its just the school psychologist (they cant actually force you to see a counselor outside of school hours, but they can require you see one during school hours)

Well, I think you think there's something wrong with that, because if you were sure there's nothing wrong with that you wouldn't be asking, and you would have no problem with your mom seeing the book. I understand that some people are more creative than others, and that's not wrong, but maybe school just isn't the place to express yourself, teachers and other students can be very judgmental and sometimes create a concern with no bases.
14. hmm. I'm not sure. If I were the teacher, I'd take it away, I wouldn't call your parents or anything, because I wouldn't be surprised a guy would draw stuff like that. BUT you are in a public, structured enviorment. Why not just draw that stuff when you get home, and read gory novels during school.. like Stephen King... or Shakespeare books with naked pictures in them.lol. that was what everyone did when I was in eighth grade. Just talk to the teacher and be like, "just hear me out for a few seconds, I didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm not a freaky weird-o. just trying to pass the time" or something like that. Just explain that and promise you won't do it again. Don't whine to the teacher or beg. Make sure you're articulate and well thought out other-wise the teacher will think you're just some dumb kid trying to get out of trouble. Good luck : )
15. I'd hope you think people getting killed in comics, movies etc is funny and NOT in real life or else you have some serious mental issues. Point is, you should not be doing anything else in english class but english.You deserved the detention because of that.
16. It's not like you were showing them to people and creating a distraction, right? You shouldn't get in trouble for that! It's probably in his desk, sneak over there when he leaves the room or something and take it and go back to your seat. He's probably calling your mom because he thinks you have psychological problems though, so don't be pissed at him he's just trying to help.
