My Funny Picture

My Brothers Unnatural cat?

ok, so my brother got a cat yesterday from some lady. She has 7 cats and she let my brother have one. Its one month old, and the woman said that its a chinese cat so it has 8 nails! i think that is very weird and not normal. Is it normal???? Here are some pictures of the cats paw, and the cat. tell me what you think!!! we named the cat mittens. I think its cute! Because his paws are shaped like mittens. LOL i just find it funny. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i248/bep2die4/IMGA0988.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i248/bep2die4/IMGA0989.jpg (sorry my brother got to close to the cat! he never listens!)

  1. Actually it may not be as weird as you think. My aunt always gets cats with extra toes because she thinks they are so cute. Ernest Hemingway was also know for having cats all over his property in Key West that have extra toes. But I think Mittens is very cute and you guys are going to have a lot of fun!
  2. it might be inbred, but there are some ppl that would pay $$ for a special cat like that
  3. This is definitely an unique and absolutely adorable kitty.
  4. its just a birth defect, but he's probably otherwise fine and normal.. a friend of mine has a cat with extra toes, she calls him digit.
  5. The cat is MUCH older than 1 month. Cats still nurse until they're about 2 months old, and this cat looks full grown. As for the "chinese" cat- it is actually a Siamese cat, but probably not pure bred. This just describes the coloring the cat has. As for the extra toes, this can happen to any cat. It's called "Polydactylism" 'poly' meaning multiple 'dactyl' meaning toes. The cat is cute! Congrats
  6. Sounds like he's a polydactyl cat - which is a cat that has more than the "normal" 5 toes on its paws. It's not a health issue, just a genetic mutation. I think you lucked out, I think polydactyl cats look neat! Mittens is a great name for him - he's adorable! Oh, and I don't know what breed he is, but being "Chinese" isn't why he has extra toes. Sounds like the lady didn't know what she was talking about!
  7. What a sweetie! Not that uncommon, although that's alot of extra toes!! LOL! They're called polydactyls, or Hemingways, as the above poster noted that Ernest Hemingway owned quite a few of these.
  8. The cat is a polydactyl, and it is NOT Siamese. It's also much more then a month old.
  9. What a cute kitten! Makes me what another! I've heard of cats having extra toes and its more common. I think kitty paws are very cute, even with extra toes! Give your kitty extra love for me.
  10. Um i really don't think there is such thing as a Chinese kitten. The kitty was just born that way does not mean anything is wrong. It is just like a human born with a extra finger or something no big deal.
