My Funny Picture

Do christians think that their religion is growing because of its teachings?

Christian missionaries prevail where there is poverty and corruption. They offer poor uneducated people money and ask them to convert to christianity.Christians cannot deny this, once christian england is now mostly atheist. Why im saying this is because i actually live in Pakistan which is a poor country with a high illiteracy rate.I have church a few blocks away from my home and sometimes we get white christian preachers trying to convert people. They did manage to convert one man who was actually uneducated and poor.Believe me they offered him money.Mostly i refute christian nonsense about islam. Now compare this with islam.Ignoring the high birth rates of Muslims we still see that islam is growing in america and other countries in convert numbers.Faster then christianity. Now most americans are educated and rich enough so they cant be convinced by money. They have access to media like the internet which unfortunately alot off people in pakistan dont have. And islam has grown after 9/11 which proves that it certainly is not a religion of violence. As far opressing women is concerned,i want to ask you a question.Have you ever been to Pakistan ,or saudia arabia or Qatar or IRAN? .The culture here is very very different from yours.Women themselves cover up,my mother and sister dont..but i know many women who do that themselves.Oh and they are perfectly educated women with jobs.Your judging of our culture by your immoral and materialistic values is stupid. We look at women as wives ,as sisters as daughters ,you mostly look at them like sexual objects and display pictures of nude women on signboards to sell products.Just yesterday i was looking at this comercial for a car ,the women was in a bikini standing next to the car.The commercial said 'TEST DRIVE HER NOW"....Who the girl or the car?

  1. ye but different churches teach different things, I think
  2. As a missionary I know what you say is not true.
  3. Christianity and all religions are getting bigger by the numbers
  4. So, what was your point here? To say that Islam is better than Christianity? They're both myths. And that girl was HOT!
  5. I have had over 60 years as a Christian involved in the church all my life. I hve associated with Christians of aqll types and I have never ever known of a Christian trying to get a convert by offereing them money. That is contrary to all the teachings of Christianity. oYou are just totally misinformed about Christianity.
  6. Have you been to the US or Canada or England? Your assumptions about us are as ignorant as our assumptions about you.
  7. "And islam has grown after 9/11 which proves that it certainly is not a religion of violence." This 'proof' is completely ridiculous - and you wonder why the other half of the world distrusts Islam!
  8. I lived in Saudi Arabia for three years. Islamic practices towards women are barbaric. If you think stoning women to death is not barbaric then you are barbaric. The fact many Christian practices are barbaric as well, does not justify Islamic ones.
  9. Methinks you're trying too hard to justify the continued existence of a very stupid and barbaric religion. Give it up, at the risk of letting your brain wither and die. As Shakeaspeare said, and I paraphrase: You do protest too much.
  10. Christian ranks grow because of people seeing miracles, experiencing the loving Presence od God in services and the blessed hope of eternity with God. I believe the ranks of Muslims in America is due to anger and hate mostly from the prisons where alot of recruiting is done.
  11. 1) Do christians think that their religion is growing because of its teachings? Of course. Witness, by comparison, the teachings of the Branch Davidians or the Shakers. During certain periods, those teachings attracted followers and those sects grew. Now the reverse is true - wholly as a result of the attractiveness of their teachings. 2) Christian missionaries prevail where there is poverty and corruption. "Prevail"? You mean: there's lots of them in such places? Guess what: there's even more of them in places where wealth and governmental oversight are common. Christian missionaries don't "prevail" only in such places, but it is true that as Christians we are expected to provide humanitarian aid. Naturally, Christians are found where humanitarian aid is most needed. 3) They offer poor uneducated people money and ask them to convert to christianity. Really? I've never heard of a situation where Christian missionaries attempt to purchase conversion - either from the uneducated or the educated. Do you have evidence supporting such a claim? 4) Christians cannot deny this What would make you think so? 5) once christian england is now mostly atheist A false claim, easily disproved. 6) Believe me they offered him money. Did you see one of these missionaries offer him money - or is that just more convenient for you to believe than what you actually know about the situation? 7) Ignoring the high birth rates of Muslims we still see that islam is growing in america and other countries in convert numbers.Faster then christianity. And likewise with Christianity in historically Islam-dominated nations that allow religious freedom. It is normal and expected for a "newly introduced" religion (newly introduced into a nation) to grow more quickly than an established religion. For example: Wicca is growing much more quickly than Islam in those same countries. Does that mean Wicca is a more valid religion than Islam or that its teachings are superior? If not, why do you claim that the same relationship between Christianity and Islam in certain nations means that Islam is more valid and that its teachings are superior? 8) And islam has grown after 9/11 which proves that it certainly is not a religion of violence. Logically that does not prove that Islam is not a religion of violence. Indeed, historically most religions have grown most prodigiously when employing violence. This is true of Islam, Christianity, and most other religions. 9) Have you ever been to Pakistan ,or saudia arabia or Qatar or IRAN? No - nor would I begin oppressing women if I had. 10) you mostly look at them like sexual objects and display pictures of nude women on signboards to sell products. Before I was a Christian I did the first. I can't recall ever having done the second. Jim, http://www.bible-reviews.com
