looking at pictures of dead animals, does it make you feel weird?

In Watchmen, when Rorschach pointed at the dead dog with its head split open, I paused it and looked at it for a minute or two, and it made me feel weird. Why is that? I know the animal was fake but why?

1. It was more than likely the shock of seeing a dead animal in an unnatural death, that is, rather than dying from something "usual" such as having been hit by a car, you saw one with it's head split open. In the same way as seeing a dead fish floating in the river, or seeing one that someone used a power drill and drove screws through it. One is rather normal whereas one is offensive and wrong.
