Is it weird or strange to masterbate to a significant other's picture?

I just saw "I Love You, Man" and Jason Segel's character said that it is bad to masterbate to a significant other's picture. Is this true? Also, is it awkward to masterbate to a girl's picture on MySpace/Facebook (I am 17)?
