Does my Jack dempsey have ICK?? Please look at pictures?
My JD has a white spot on it's right side that Im concerned about. He doesn't have and other white spots on the left side or anywhere else. The white spot is not raised and my fish isn't "flashing" or rubbing against rocks or anything weird. The white spot is right above a blue spot. The blue spot is normal but I don't know why he has a white spot.Does this look like ICK (white spot disease) to you? Any and all advice appreciated. Please look at the 3 pictures below and tell me what you think.Click the magnifying glass that says "all sizes" above the opened pic to make the image larger.Thanks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11166939@N06/3957316872/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/11166939@N06/3957316824/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/11166939@N06/3956539209/

- i don't think its ick because there would be a lot more and it would look fuzzy because its a fungus if more white spots pop up and the fish isn't as active as usual then go to the pet store and ask to buy the treat meant.
- That's not ich. ich is tiny white spots all over, like salt. It could be a wound healing, a scale missing. if it looks fuzzy, then it could be a spot of fungus. But treating meds right now might not be the thing to do. If he i acting fine and eating well, then just keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger or another one shows up? Then perhaps some meds will be called for. Just keep the water clean nd do everyhting you have been doing, no additional stress right now.
- Im not sure. It doesnt look like Ich... :]
- it doesnt lok like it. i had a fish with ick and it looked like mold. ih its a llight creamy color and its fuzzy thats ick. if it is, do to your pet strore and buy Ick Guard. when you put it in the water at first it will be blue and then spread out and disolve. it works well.
- It's not ich. Ich is a tiny spot about the size of a grain of salt, and there will be dozens of them. That looks like a small injury, maybe a missing scale. Watch that it does't get worse as that indicates it's infected. Only treat if it's getitng worse, use a general antibiotic for fungal and bacterial infections, not Ich. Ian
