- It is a young robin. He will eat worms bugs almost anything you stuff down his throat. Call the Humane society, animal rescuers centers .They take Nests of birds that fall and feed them. Search with those terms in your area code .something should come up..
- If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.
- This is a fledgling bird just out of the nest. It will be able to fly in few days. They live on ground until then. Parents take care of it no matter where it wanders to. Put it back. They survive in the rain just fine. Parents will not come back as long as they see you around. They see you as a predator even though you are trying to help. Put it in some brush, or put a little box out there and cut hole in it and let it stay under there when raining hard. It will find cover. Does ot matter that you have touched it they will still care for it. It will not eat for you as it sees you as a predator. it has all its feathers so it can regulate its body temp just fine.
