why do people smirk when they take pictures of themselves?

I always notice these people who don't smile in their pictures, but do a smirk/pouty mouth thing. I mean, I think it's cute the first time, but if you see it on every picture, it looks kinda... weird. do you guys think this is cute?

3. Well I think that is just how some people smile. Perhaps they don't realize that they are taking the same pictures repetitiously because they are just focused on smiling. I think a good picture, smirking or otherwise, is cute, but I do not think that having the same face in every picture is.

5. They think it looks good, because it draws in their cheeks and gives them the illusion of cheekbones. A lot of models pout in magazines and stuff, so they copy that image. My friend completely sucks in her cheeks and sticks her lips out, and I don't think it looks very good in photos. She's really pretty and it would look better if she smiled.
