Ask the cat, in slow, understandable talk, 'Which kind of cat are you?' If the cat just answers with male or female, re ask the question, saying something like, 'I know that, cousin to the king of beasts! I, your servant, ask you what kind of male or female cat are you?' If the answer comes out something like, 'I am a pretty boy or girl,' ask which subtype feline it is. And be ready to give the kitty some sort of reward.
