Buy A Rated M Game When 14?

I am 14 years old and i really want to bu Fable II or Oblivion. I know this sounds wierd but my dad will let me play rated M games (as long as there is not sex or the F or CU word) but he won't buy them for me. So i want to go over to gamespot and buy the game by myself. Do you think they would let a teen buy a rated M game. I know Oblivion was once rated T and if they say i can't buy the game do you think i could use that in my defense? Do you think it is worth a try? I might be able to buy Oblivion online (probly not Fable 2 because of the demon on the cover) but do you think my dad would see the M on the display picture if i bought it ob ebay, or does it say it in the descrption? Ok, i own rated M games so ya. My dad dosen't care i got them for my birthday.

  1. a lot of places require ID now when you buy M rated games because that is the law. You can usually get a older person other than your dad to buy it for you (such as a friends family member?) other than that im sure you wont be able to buy the game in-store....if you can order online you can certainly do it that way because you do not have to show ID, i order online alot and ive never had to
  2. Try it. if they dont let you buy it at the shop bring up ur defence. besides these days most people in shops are teens or lazy adults who do it to make money and dont care about why a 14 year old would buy a m rated game they cant prove u r 14 any way u could say ur 16, but realy i dont think it will mater unless theres a security guard then jus explain to ur dad ur growing up and buy it on ebay
  3. First of all...Oblivion was never rated "T". I don't know where you got that information. Second...the games are rated "M" for a reason. There is nothing that you can do to buy this game. An ID is required to purchase an "M" game and if your not 17, then you are out of luck. Going to a game store isn't like going to court...you can't make your case to the cashier and hope they let you buy it. That's funny that you would say something like that. You wont be able to buy it online either unless you have a valid credit card, which I am guessing you don't have. Just ask someone else's parents to buy it for you or something. Personally, I don't think your dad is ok with you playing "M" games. I think he just says that because he knows you'll never be able to aquire one...otherwise he would just buy it for you.
  4. I think the rating are only there as a guide line ... so, if you're not the type of kid who will see violence in a game and then go and repeat it in real life then you should be able to voice this to your dad and you can both go into the store together... maybe
