My Funny Picture

Weird Ipod, happened to anyone else?

Ok, I have an Ipod Nano 1st gen. I have had it almost 3 years now and it has worked perfectly except for, over the summer, I got the sick Ipod screen. Picture of an ipod with 2 x's for eyes and a frown. Thought it was dead, but did the reset thing where you push the play and center button down (I think?) a few times and then it came back, and started working. Only other issue with it since is it will turn right back on once it goes on, after a few tries it will stay off. Anyone else have this happen to them? Just thought it was interesting.

  1. you should have sent it to apple when the sad ipod came up. they have an ipod care center in their stores, i suggest you take it there... or get a new one, now they are waaay cheaper than before :)
  2. It is possible over a number of years (Especially if they used a lower quality Flash NAND chips back then, and also keep in mind 2GB and 1GB flash chips would normally be expensive) that the flash chip used for the harddrive on the nano could go bad. resetting usually only prolongs the inevitable. If the problem keeps persisting then one of two things is happening 1) The storage device is going bad. 2) The battery is going bad. But seeing as you actually get errors related to the screen then #1 is my bet. If you're attached to the device you can always google about how to replace the storage with a larger flash drive (such as an SD card via an adapter), as well as the ability to replace the battery with something new. Not every one wishes to upgrade, such as someone I knew who was in love with the minty green iPod Mini he had.
