Would highlights look weird? (Picture Inside)?

Ok so I'm kind of sick of my hair color. I want something a little different because I'm getting bored with my hair. My hair is very dark brown. I am also going to be getting it trimmed and more layered, with a side bang (before school starts). Should I get highlights? I was thinking just a lighter brown. I don't want to do anything totally dramatic. But I really need advice because I have three friends that say I should and three that say I shouldn't. So now, I don't know what to do! Help me! Thanks.

I would say get your hair cut with the side bangs, and add some caramel/dark blond highlights to the front /top areas. Your new haircut will be "poppin"!!!!
get choppy layers and side bangs, no highlights. the only problem with you hair is that it's just there. nothing is going on with it.
dark soft caramel would be nice maybe under the layers around the face! Thats what ive been giving the girls lately before college here at UNC N. Carolina!
