whats this weird alternative health machine?
So i work at an alternative health office and some weird things have come up. im gonna sound crazy but, there is this little machine hooked up to a computer with software listing electronic pulses and ailments its curing. then on top of the machine is a picture face down of the person being treated. the person is physically no where near the building. i was told to enter in a command every 15 minutes to send a "zap" to the patient . what the heck is this voodoo crap?! i feel like a freakin' episode of lost.

- Umm I honestly don't know. How long have you been working at this job? It sounds like a bunch of nut cases.. lol I'd get out of there if I were you. Or if you know anyone else really well that works there I'd ask them what it is. It sounds really weird..
- That is one of the most long running scams in the history of alternative medicine. It sounds like a variation of the "Rife machine", though usually the person is at the machine itself, though I suppose since it's ineffective in person, you might as well be able to send it through transdimensional space/power lines/the internet. Anyway. Rife was a fellow who built microscopes about a hundred years ago. He made a number of nutty claims, including that he could see viruses with his microscopes (which is a physical impossibility, the wavelength of visible light is too large to resolve a virus). And including that he could use radiowaves to kill specific pathogens, and that ever pathogen had a specific frequency. This sort of quackery has actually gotten the people selling it sued, and occasionally gotten a few people prison sentences.
