My Funny Picture

Why to things that are funny stop being funny? Like if you read or hear a funny joke, you laugh, but if you?

if you read it read it or hear it 5 times, it stops being funny. Nothing else does this. Steel is always hard. A blue crayon is always blue. 2+2 is always four. A picture of a dog is always a picture of a dog. And funny is not an emotion, like anger or lust. It's an adjective or concept and should not change with time.

  1. wow i never thought about that but it's so true. idk.
  2. Because humor, as best I can describe it, is expectations not met. You think you know what to expect, and then WHAM! the punchline comes, and you laugh. And then you here it again,. but you know what the punchline is, so your expectations are met.
  3. wow thats weird i never took time 2 thing about it good point
  4. well...i guess u cant really compare it to steel or a blue crayon, or a pic of a dog.... I guess the concept of the joke is that, u think its hilarious when its new, and after u'v heard it a few times, it's just old...u'v heard it before, and its just lost its....i dunno...interestingness? ...like, for example, When a couple has their first child, they look at it and mavel....but they wont keep mavelling everytime they see him uptill the kids , like 18, rite? Or the first time u drive...u feel so proud the first time ya actualy get on the road, but if u start driving urself 2 work everyday, its not gonna be anything special...
  5. Because, to put it simply, it's conditional. Similar to a mood, though not one. It's not the joke that's changing, it's the person that's changing. Plus it's repetitive, it's like hearing the same song on the radio all the time, eventually you get bored of it.
  6. Because nothing can last forever, and everything has to stop doing its role sometimes, and with humor, it is when you think about it or say it more then needed, and you tend to say it a lot, it gets a little old, and then annoying, and then a lot old.
  7. Because if you read it a million times, than youve heard it before, and it becomes old.
