My Funny Picture

Do some baby clothes designs drive you crazy? (regarding a Carter's footless unionsuit)?

Has anyone else out there just been BAFFLED by the idiotic designs of some infant wear.... especially when it's made by a reputable brand like Carter's? My 8 month-old is so wiggly now that trying to snap together all TWELVE SNAPS (yes, 12!) on this particular piece of clothing is just torture for both of us! After today and the usual number of diaper changes, where I have to remove one leg from a "looped" piece, and do snaps around both legs, while the other snaps go diagonally across the torso, she will NEVER wear this garment again! A few other items that she's worn over her short life that also have this diagonal snap design are so strange because they expose skin between the snaps when she's in any other position than laying straight out (looks really weird in pictures!). I really just have to wonder if the designers and "green-lighters" of these items have NEVER dressed a wiggly baby or tried to change a diaper while wearing one of these. I'm seriously considering contacting Carter's to let them know my thoughts on this because it diminishes my opinion of the company. Have any of you parents experienced this? Thanks! Thanks Dan R. I'm glad I didn't have my baby with you. Now, I'm really curious about this aspect..... how many of your husbands have simply said, "I can't figure this thing out!" and left it for YOU to finish snapping up?? : ) I enjoy the fact that many of you allow your family members who think these designs are so "cute" to experience them when they are babysitting! Classic! I WAS also going to mention the "size discrepancy" issues with Carter's, but I thought my tirade was long enough already..... I'm embarrassed to be married to a "Carter!" ; ) Just sent an email to Carter's customer service department restating all of this and directed them to this Yahoo! Answers posting to see all of your additional comments. Thank you so much for your input!

  1. Yes it does. In fact it pisses me off and once I got so mad I just threw the baby out the window.
  2. what i dont get is, the trousers i get for my girl, there is the leg length, then from the crotch to the wasteband is nearly the same length as the leg?! its like they think i wrapping her bum in a bath towel for a nappy?!?!?
  3. LOL you are so right. I think they test these outfits on baby dolls, not real, live, trying to escape babies.
  4. Dan, answer the door. The police have been knocking for an hour.
  5. YES! I try to avoid the purchase of terrible clothing like this. And my mom who think those coveralls with 10 snaps around the bottom, I just can't wait for her to have him all weekend while I make sure those are all I pack! We should start a petition against infant clothing with too many snaps...
  6. I think you should contact Carters and let them know. I think too many of the baby manufacturers try to keep up with trends and styles, and forget that it's all about convenience. It's always been that way, but seems more so today.
  7. I hate all the snaps and footless sleepers in winter time. In some climates its ok but here a baby needs their feet covered. I dont get it
  8. We have a Carter's outlet down here that is like a gift from God, but we also ended up with the pajama set that has 12 snaps...part of them are functioning and part of them form this ackward area that I think is supposed to be decorative. Anyway, it makes a loop, like you mentioned, which Em always manages to get her leg through...so weird! EDIT: LOL, dads are funny. Josh hates putting onesies on Em. He swears to heaven that it's like the birthing process, all over again!
  9. I agree! I try to avoid those outfits, no matter how cute they are! Been there and done that. I learned on my second child to avoid certain types of outfits. I keep her in sundresses in the summer (I'm trying to potty train her). I don't put her in those cute little overalls very often, either. My Mom always seems to think she "has" to have them so I put them on her when we go over to her house.
  10. HA HA HA! My husband does not even try to snap up her clothes, I ALWAYS have to do it! You know what else I hate about baby clothes ... the sizes always vary from brand to brand and sometimes even with in the same brand! Carters is the worst... which surprises me!
  11. Ohh I'm so glad my boy's are now toddlers! No more baby clothes to deal with. Honestly, sometimes it didn't matter what I was trying to put on him; he wouldn't sit still for anything. The worst are those that snap down both legs - I can't count the times that I had to resnap the entire outfit after discovering, on the last button that I had messed up the very bottom! My poor baby had to squirm and scream through the whole procedure again. I used to hesitate to contact companies, but now I do it all the time - they need the feed back to find out what their customers like and dislike - and, to be honest, I love that they usually give you really good coupons or merchandise if you complain or compliment. To keep my sanity, I always contact a company I am especially happy with right after I complain. That way I don't feel so negative after the process - and companies love you when you give positive feed back as well! I got a happy baby onesie after telling them how much I loved their food after I complained about a malfunctioning Lucky Duck game :)
  12. I hate snaps! My baby gets so impatient waiting for me to do up the snaps. I look for anything with a zipper. You should contact Carter's and we should start a petition against infant clothing or start our own line of clothing!
  13. I know!!! Why do they make things this way?? And yes, my hubbie has said, you need to fasten this thing.
  14. I hate infant clothes. I'm seriously thinking about moving to a nudist colony...well, during the summer anyway. Just last month, I bought my daughter this adorable over-all clothes set. However, when I started to put it on her, I realized there is no snaps in the bum area. So, when she wore them, I would have to take the overalls completely off every time I changed her diaper...sheesh. Yeah...and Carters. I don't even buy that brand anymore.
  15. I AGREE 1MILLION PERCENT. What genius came up with that ridiculous diagonal design with snaps in all directions? How are we supposed to get this freakin thing buttoned with a wiggly baby? I hate those! I'll never buy them again! P.S. ALL INFANT CLOTHES SHOULD HAVE ZIPPERS...
