My Funny Picture

How can I make my hair less crazy and more asian and straight at the ends but still nice?

I get comments a lot like "you have too much hair" or "your hair looks really weird" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v602/fil-am/dc14e375.jpg this is a picture of me... i wish lol. Sadly, I have thick filipino hair. I don't want to use those thinning sissors because they're very damaging to hair I've heard. It's not just that it's thick, but I have too much hair which makes it look thicker. I got my hair cut as layers and use a hair iron so it doesn't look so poofy at the bottom. It seems to have gotten more and more annoying the past few months. Instead of being poofy at the end, it sticks out everywhere! (especially at the back which is hard to fix) TT.TT I'm thinking of using Pantene pro-v smooth because it seemed my hair was more managable when I had it, even though it didn't help the thickness. It was smooth and had a nice texture at the same time. Also my hairdryer broke in May. So I've only been using a hair straightener after showering -.-" Sadly, it takes an hour for me everyday to straighten my hair only so it looks like this: http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e127/thispassionate/?albumview=slideshow Take a look at my hair and please tell me what I can do to make it more straight, thin, and asian looking or stylish--& less crazy. Also how can I make my hair long quicker? (p.s. i have moose but don't want volume and i have a straightening gel but it doesn't help the ends)

  1. You're hair is actually normal. I know what you mean because the exact same thing happens to me and everybody else I know who got their hair layered. It sticks out in all directions like crazy! This is because the hair ends are not even in a layered haircut so that's why they are not grouped together straightly. I have to use a straightener on my hair but now that it has grown longer, I just have to make sure it dries off properly after I take a shower. btw do you use your straighter when you're hair's wet because you should never do that. Also, remember to use some cream before you flat iron your hair (leave-in conditioner is good). I can't access your photobucket link but I believe your hair is fine. You can continue using a flat iron or some straightening moose/gel. I think you should look at some creams to use before you flat iron your hair because it would help make your hair more manageable at the ends. I use Herbal Essences' Long-Term Relationship leave-in conditioner but there are a lot of other products that you can try too. Good luck! =)
  2. I have the same exact problem! I am also filipino and my hair is fine, but thick.. not the usual texture of a lot of filipinos. But my cousins have the same problem and what they do is they shampoo, but don't use conditioner. Instead, put a leave-in-conditioner like Garnier, in the bright green bottle. This really helps, instead of of using conditioner. Also, use a hair serum.. something to put on your hair to kind of "weigh" it down. I would suggest those shine serums, because enough of it will actually weigh down the hair. Then straight-iron your hair. By looking at your pictures, your hair is FINE! There's nothing wrong with it. Some shine serum on the ends, and then straight iron, you'll be good to go! To make your hair grow longer quicker... you should get regular trims. Every 6-8 weeks.. every 4-6 may be too much! Because healthy hair is quicker to grow than damaged ends. ..Also, your hair grows in cycles, where your hair will grow quickly for a couple months, then grow slowly for another couple months. Its natural to go thru these phases.. soo don't be too harsh on your hair if it doesn't grow as fast as you think it should. Sometimes if you cut your hair during the "slow phase" your hair will not grow that quick as it would if it were in the "fast phase". Straightening gel, won't help the ends. Obviously you've tried it! :) But the shine serum or any type of serum WILL help the ends. It NEVER fails to weigh down hair! Just apply to the ends.
