Laptop help? (read for details)?

Okay, so I am possibly bidding on a laptop in the next 6 hours on ebay. The seller is a store and has basically 100% positive feedback, so I'm not worried about scams. I just need to know if this sounds like a decent laptop. * Intel Mobil Pentium Processor (266Mhz!!) * 4gig Hard Drive - 32mb EDO memory (UPgradable)! * Includes 24x CD-ROM * 12.1" TFT Active Matrix Display - Crisp and Clear Display, regardless of your angle! * INCLUDED FREE: 802.11G Wireless Card 5X FASTER for internet access on virtually all wireless networks! * Integrated Audio Input/Output Jacks * SVGA connector for use with your HOME MONITOR * USB for a Scanner, Digital Cameras,Printers etc. * PS/2 for using an external keyboard or mouse * Parallel port for attaching a printer * 2 PCMCIA * AC Adapter (Charger) * Battery (used, not tested, not warranted) * Infrared(IR) port for easy communication with your other devices! But I have a desktop at home and the ONLY things I'd really be using it for is email, internet, and msn for when I'm out of town. Does it sound like a decent laptop? It'll be really cheap, like.. 80 dollars or something like that all together. So not a big loss. But still, I don't know. What do you guys think? Okay, thanks for the advice guys! I won't go for that one. But what about this one? for about 120 dollars, you get, Model:Latitude C640 Processor:Pentium 4 1.8 Ghz Memory:256 MB Hard Drive:20GB Optical Drive:CD Operating System:Windows XP Pro Screen:14.1" Video Card:ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 Audio:Sigmatel 975 Wireless:Can easily be added Ethernet:Yes Modem:Yes Battery:Lithium Ion Inputs / Outputs:USB, headphones out, PCMCIA

  1. I don't trust the reliability of it. There's small laptops like the ASUS EEE that's like $200-300. Much better deal, with support if anyone was to go wrong. And new tech, inside of old, old stuff.
  2. This is a pretty dated laptop, I'd say at least 10-15 years. Honestly if I were looking for a cheap laptop to toy around, its not bad, but I probably would not spend $80 on it.
  3. the laptop sucks....buy an eee or aspire one would be 10x better than this
  4. That notebook is not worth anything at all ! 4GB HDD, 32MB RAM and 233MHz processor (probably a Pentium 1) ?? I wouldn’t take it even if it was given for FREE !. you can’t run anything other than Windows 95 or 3.1 on it. Way too old. You can buy something 10x better for around $150 ~ $200. Save your money and get a used laptop with something like Pentium 4, M, Celeron 1GHz CPU, 256MB of RAM and at least 20GB + HDD.
  5. that really sounds horrible....you can get mid-range cellphones with da same amount of power which u can use for chattin, email n stuff. i say throw in a bit more cash n get smthn bettr cuz u cant evn multitask properly on dat thing...u'll probably throw it out in a week evn if u buy it
  6. That's better, but you'll still only be able to do the most basic stuff on it. It would run very slowly and it would take forever if you actually tried using Nero to burn something. Really, I wouldn't suggest it, but it would work for simple stuff like checking email just fine. I'd say it's several years outdated though.
