There is a weird jello like substance growing under the underside of my boat what is this from? ?
ok i was looking at the under side of my boat today and i noticed a very weird growth. At first i thought it might be an egg sack from a fish. however when i touched it immediately knew this wasn't the case. The growth was a clear gelatin like substance on the under side and along the visible spots to open water the substance had a weird brown pattern can anyone shed some light on to what this might be if not i will try to take pictures.

- Its from bill cosby
- It is algae. remove the boat from the water and power wash it away. Then treat the bottom with algacide or paint with anti fouling paint.
- Yup, that is algae. You have a couple of options. 1. Assuming your boat has a trailer, pull it out and pressure wash it, put back in. Hint (do not let it dry on your boat - gets rather tough) 2. Get into your SCUBA gear, attack it with a soft material (rag, sponge) or if it is definitely hard to get off, use a scrubby type pad. Sounds like you should have some sort of anti-fouling paint on your hull. This by the way, does not really prevent this formation. I clean hulls locally and see a lot of this, usually takes a couple years to get this way.
