My Valentine Gift Idea: Getting us both a little pet fish. Your thoughts or suggestions?

This might sound completely weird but I have been thinking all night about what to get my boyfriend for Valentine's. It's a fairly new relationship, we've been seeing each other for about 4 months and actually kind of officially used the boy/girlfriend labels this past weekend when I met his old college friends. So while I don't want it to seem like a big deal (once I am in a relationship with someone for a while, a tend to go big on presents) I still want to do something because I am really hoping he does. (I hate to expect but it could be the smallest things and it would still mean the world.) Anyways, thought about a picture, baked cookies, a naughty coupon book, but wasn't excited about any. I want those small colorful alpha males that you can get at petco. Kind of like, I'm still here even when I am not. And, ironically, those fish can never be in the same tank together or they destroy each other. I think it's a really funny description. Honestly, will he think it is dumb?

3. I'd say go for the cookies. As hardy fish CAN survive in bowls for a considerable length of time, I do not find it very human. As I type this, I have a betta (Siamse Fighting fish you're talking about) sitting next to me in a bowl and he just looks so sad no matter how you look at him. Was given to me as a birthday gift. You might wanna consider the aquarium but that's not very romantic and it's a huge hassel to take care of, trust me.
4. yes, because he will have to feed them. it is like giving him a cat or a puppy... bad idea. Why don't you get him a stuffed animal? I bought my roommate a car model. he really enjoyed putting that together this evening! guys like creative things, or things that are useful. If you don't want to go overboard, but you want him to know that you care, just make him a nice meal, and be really nice to him. He would love that more than anything material you could give him. 5. Coming from a guys perspective then I would not want a fish. Not that it is bad but I don't know tooo many guys that like fish. Unless he is a big animal lover then I would get him something from a store like a DVD or if he has an HD or Blu-ray player one of those DVD. They are not too pricey. If you want a suggestion then the Bourne movies are pretty much loved buy all guys and the newest one just came out on DVD. I think most guys would appreciate that you would get him anything but if you want him to like it then usually you can't go wrong with electronics. P.S. All guys know to get their GF something on VD.
6. I did that for christmas for my boyfriend of 6 months and we went into things at a steady pace, He loved them, I brought three for him and he loves them . I think it's a great Idea, maybe get him the tank and things and let him choose the fish! Good luck :-)
