Is it weird for people to put pictures of dead people in their photo album?
I remember when I was at my grandma's last Thanksgiving and we started to look through old photo albums. And to my surprise, I saw about 15 people dead in a casket. My grandma actually took pictures of these dead people at the funeral home during visitation! I have never heard of anyone doing this ever. Is this normal? I meant to say, "about 15 dead people in caskets." Sorry for the confusion.

- I've never heard of it. To me, it's a little morbid. Maybe she thinks it's normal, I don't know.
- Wierd man, wierd!
- Well, I have no idea. I've certainly never heard of anyone doing that, but that is a bit strange. Wow.
- THAT'S CREEPY!
- it's okay i guess but idk it depends
- i've never heard of it! But that's kinda creepy. D:
- They weren't all in the same casket ...were they? That would be overly weird.
- It's common with older people. My grandma had the same thing. I never figured out why in the world they would want to remember someone that way.. but hey, to each their own.
- It is a bit strange.....
- Perfectly normal.
- When my fiance died his parents took photos of him in his casket. It did freak me out actually. That was 15 years ago and I have never seen them and I never will. I want to remember him in happy times with me.
- uhhhhhhhhhhhh....lol well............................................ =) that's kinda creepy. but ... haha. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO SAY TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?!?! xD
- im going to have to say yes. thats kinda disturbing... i wouldnt want a picture of me dead in an album
- id freak out...creepy
- For some people it is. They sometimes just want a keepsake of that last time then saw them. My mom has a photo album with my pictures of my grandparents funerals.
- Memorial photography was very common during Victorian times - particularly of children. Not as much anymore. If it helps her with her healing, there's no reason to make her stop. http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2004/afamilyundertaking/special_gone.html
- WHOA! II guess people are doing this more and more (along with putting funerals online), but I'd save such morbid pictures for a seperate album, for only real close family members to see. (Did I mention, "YEECCHH"???)
- in Canada it is done i have seen a good friends photo album its just something that is done. I don't do it personally but i keep a picture of my mom who passed away, so i can see her daily but It's not a pic of her in a casket....that would be weird
- SADLY MISSED, LOVED ONES...........
- I think in your grandma's generation it was a much more common thing than it is now. I now my aunts (over 60, all of them) record the funeral services and pass out cassette tapes to everybody in the family (I have no idea where mine are, nor do I care if I ever find them). They also take pictures of the grave site with the coffin sitting on the top. Yeah, these things are morbid to me -- but I also think funerals and the visitation ritual are barbaric.
- Really it isnt because they put it in the past to remember the people that had died. Yes it is kind of natural so that they can remember people and what their like.
- It is normal in some cultures. A cousin of mine has a picture of her son that she lost at birth in his casket. And just recently I went to a funeral of a friend's Mom and they took pictures of her in her casket. It has something to do with a belief in saving their soul or something....dunno, something like that. And also family history.
- my grandmother does the same but, yeah i think it's weird
- Not at all. I have a couple of my grandma and I even got it on VHS-C. Some day I can show it to my kids and their kids so they can know who my Grandma was and how she left.
- No, my grandma doesn't do that but she does have a weird way of taking pictures of people. She doesn't wait for them to pose. She just snaps it randomly and if you're lucky, you'll have a good picture. There are about 8 pictures of me with food halfway into my mouth and plenty more with my mouth open and my eyes closed.
- well, a little. i took a picture of my deceased brother, i don't know where the picture is now though. i don't frequent funerals, but grandma must have a underground / undercover job. maybe the mortician person would have a lot for the records but, GRANNY....... what's in your wallet?
- well if ur grandma loved them its ok
- just a little
- HOW ABOUT WATCHING SOME VIDEO TAPE THE WHOLE THING.
