We found a weird fish?
My husband and I were walking along a small pond and found a dead fish of some kind. It had the feet of a lizard but had the body, gills and a back fin like a fish. I was fricked out. We took pictures because neither one of us has seen one before. Any clue what it is. Some of the locals saw it is a muddog. But can't find any information about it. If you know what it is please help us. It looked like a fish with legs. If that clears it up better.

- It could be a mud puppy. That is a salamander.
- Can you post links to the pictures? I'm pretty freaked out just imagining it.
- It could be a mudpuppy, but it might also be a tadpole. If you could post the picture somewhere it would help immensely. Just google those two critters to see what they look like.
- I agree. I want to see pictures.
- Possibly a "mudskipper", a fish that alternates between land/water dwelling. This seems to match your description, and I have seen them in action on the nature channels.
- Sounds like it might be a mudpuppy
- It was probably just a mudpuppy
- mudd skipper
- Try water dog http://www.naturalsciences.org/funstuff/notebook/herps/nr_waterdog.html mudskipper http://realityisland.8.forumer.com/a/whats-a-mudskipper_post233.html
- If not exactly like a mudpuppy, try a hellbender: http://www.dysartwoods.org/hellbender.html These are also a salamander, but lack the external gills (they have internal).
