why does women use this kind of pictures on personal profiles?

have you ever seen those pictures?, in women profiles in which they show their pets, their kids, landscapes, or even some where they are with other men? I think is silly. The one think I would not do, is post a picture of my kids on a dating profile... if a person is interested in me, will eventually get to know my children, in the mean time I will screen those people before they ever get to see their face; and the male friends? is just funny, weird, just meakes me want to turn the page...and the landscapes? but anyway, Why do women do that?

2. Possibly to show-off their current social ties. I've seen more than one profile in which a woman posted a photo of her self with a couple of friends -- and I didn't even know which one was her. Men just post pictures of themselves in front of their cars or motorcycles as if they're going to impress someone.
