Help with weird siamese cat behavior?

My family has a little black cat, which we believe is siamese. Most of the time, he's very friendly, always wants to be around people, but usually right before we go to sleep, he just goes beserk. I have an autistic brother who is sort of scared of animals, and I guess sometimes runs away from the cat and the cat just sort of chases after him, but last night he attacked my brother, scratched and bit his leg pretty bad. Is there any reason for the drastic change in behavior? Is it specific to this kind of cat? I'll attach a picture of the cat, since I'm not really sure about the breed http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/daydreamnation67/101_2398.jpg

  1. Ya, I know what you mean. We just cut our siamese cat into two cats and they are fine now.
  2. i though siamese cats were tan with black ears? i think all cats are crazy like that though - btw, he looks evil in that bag!! lol! but real cute - - good luck with him!
  3. your kitty does not look like a siamese, but i can give you a tip about the behavior, get a squirt gun and when he does this spray him a little, not soak him but let him know you mean no. it doesnt hurt him but will let him know thats wrong, you can use this for other problems also, just dont go over board with it, only when you really need it
  4. I have owned Siamese cats and from my experience they can be a bit mean sometimes (moreso the males). However since its not typical for your cat I think he was just playing. Cats are night animals it's there nature so I would suggest to put the cat in a room with a door shut away from your brother at night. Cats play more and rougher at night. It's part of their instinct. Good Luck!
  5. Your cat looks like it has just a little bit of siamese in him. My family has to part siamese and they tend to chase after us when they want to play. But when they attack people it is normaly because they have done something wrong like pulled its tail or even look the cat straight in the eye. Looking a cat straight in the eye is a threat to a cat and when siamese cats are threatened they tend to attack.
  6. Check in at your vet.It may have a disease and be trying to tell u something. If not he just may want more attention.Keep a close eye on him to be sure he doesn't run away.Look your cat straight in the eye and blink three times slowly.Think the words I love you and he might calm down
  7. your kitty doesn't look siamese to me...he does remind me of my own black tom cat. is he indoor/outdoor? cats will try and tell you things by the way they act. it's not always pleasant. we have pet doors so ALL four of my animals can come and go as they please...but my tom cat refuses to use it. he wants to be let out of the FRONT DOOR! so if you neglect to see him waiting, he'll tear thru the house knocking things down, scratching who ever is in site, causing chaos. I think your kitty senses your brothers special needs. He senses something's different and prob tht he's scared. animals act strnge to those they know are scared. also if he's a baby cat he may grow out of it. animals also tend to 'not like' children. they don't know how to be careful and i have noticed A LOT with my own family's animals that for really no reason they have attacked the little kids and growled, etc. but as the kids got older, the animals were more comfortable and accepting. animals know more and feel more than we give them credit for. i would take your kitty after such bad behavior and put him out of the room. i would also treat him when behavior is good. My cats all act differently, one hides away from certain people, one bites your hair when gettting to know you and my tom cat will reach out to you as you pass and either give a love bite or poke his claw out just enough to say-'i'm in charge here'....but it's not vicious, just him. animals to me are just like children. You are constantly reminding them, scolding them, teaching them and loving them as much as you can. i wish you luck.
  8. Siamese cats are not black. Here is what Siamese cats look like: http://www.thecatgallery.com/siamese_cat_models_page_4.html (although he could have a little Siamese blood in him from somewhere along the line, but he's not a purebred) Unless you bought the cat from a breeder and have papers, most domestic cats these days are Heinz 57 - mutts, if you will. The cat was most likely just playing, seeing as how it sounds like it was around his time of night to go nuts anyway. A lot of cats do this at our human bedtime, they are nocturnal creatures by nature. Problem is, the cat didn't know he hurt your brother. You'll just have to keep a closer eye on him.
  9. Your cat doesn't look Siamese, but perhaps it is a mix. I've had some experience with that breed. They can be a bit mean sometimes. Since you say he is acting weird at night, you should remember, Cats are more nocturnal, mostly active during the night. They are also hunters. So he was probably playing and your brother got in the crossfire. If he keeps attacking you all, maybe you should put him in his own room at night, with food, toys and a litter box. Make sure the room isn't too small.
  10. First of all, this cat isn't Siamese... They are the ones who are white/creamy gray color with black ears/nose/paws/tail. As for the behavior, cats are night creatures which is why they start getting all active when you're switching off all the lights/TV and other daily noises/activities... they are also, don't forget, predators, which is why the like to 'hunt' people's legs/feet etc. They're hunting could be nothing but a game at times, so the cat doesn't know he's hurting or doing anything wrong. My advice, though it might sound odd, get another cat so they will have each other and won't have to play with people's legs...
  11. First of all, you do not have a siamese but a black cat of some mixed breed. The cat may have attacked yor brother for a variety of reasons. If the cat senses that your brother is afraid of animals he could have picke up on that. The cat could also have been trying to get some attention or get your brother to play with him. My black cat tends to get a little rough when he believes he is being ignored as he likes to be the center of attention. Keep an eye on the cat and look for other changes in behavior. If this was a one time thing (and hopefully it was) then you can just forget it. However, if the cat contiues the behavior or changes other behaviors you should contact your vet.
