My Funny Picture

What to get my far-away friend?

I have a guy friend that graduated from college in the Spring and I haven't talked with him since, but his birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to send him a little card and gift so as not to suddenly stop thinking of him now that he's gone. He's like 5 hours away from me (I'm still at college). We never dated, but we were close and I liked him (like THAT) and we had a weird little pseudo relationship, even though we fought a lot. He wasn't keen on starting a relationship because he was leaving soon. I always got him a little something and even though we don't talk anymore, I wanted to send him something. We can rule out food, since I have to send it. I've already done the cutesy stuff (stuffed animal, picture frames, etc) and have done flowers (yes, he was a guy who liked flowers) and "useful things" (bought him a watch when his broke). We've done ties and mixed CDs. And personalized soap isn't his style. Help!

  1. I got one of my good friends a keychain with his name engraved on it. It's neither too girly or too manly either. Something simple yet something that of personal worth.
  2. What to get him? closer
  3. Send him a nice card and good wishes. If you really must send a gift, find out what restaurant he likes and send a gift card from that restaurant.
  4. a gift card to iTunes or a good restaurant
  5. socks.....
  6. Some ideas: *Sweatshirt, t-shirt or sweats from your school *If you can afford it, a ticket (bus, train, plane) to come for a visit * A gas card, CD, and map to come for a visit * You can order gift certificates to his favorite place over the phone *Tix to a concert or sporting event Hope this helps. Good luck!
  7. a phone card with the indication that it's to be used on you!
  8. You sound like a genuine and giving friend. Although your worlds have grown apart and you obviously still regard compassion for this friend, says alot. If it were me, I would get him a silver plaque with a space to hang his Diploma on one side. I'd have the other side engraved with an endearing thought that would define pride and honor. Also along with probably a Hallmark blank card with a few words that only he would appreciate. Stay true to your friendship, they're hard to come by.
