What animal left these foot prints (pictures included)?
My grandma and I looked outside after it snowed yesterday and under a tree in our front yard there were these big footprints. And then today, we looked out the window (back yard) and on the path there were these really weird foot prints (like a thing with claws and a tail.) Heres a picture: http://i29.tinypic.com/10891sn.jpg http://i31.tinypic.com/2nanpd1.jpg We don't get many big animals usually possums or raccoons.

- looks like probably an opossum because of the tail marks. they have thinner tails than raccoons.
- I'm not sure but wow those are awsome footprints
- They don't look like possum tracks to me. Opossums have a big toe pointing nearly in the opposite direction to the other toes, and the artist who created those didn't.
- Almost assuredly an opossum. Badgers, dogs, foxes, coyotes, muskrat, marmots, rats, porcupine, etc. have definite claws. Domestic cats, wildcats, bob-cats, lynx, etc. leave rounded pad prints on their front digits. Racoons also have claws and distictively different hind tracks. The opposum has no claws, thin digits, and their hind print has one digit pointing out to the side. The tail mark (long thin line) is also suitable for their tail.
- Its might be a coon or coyote.
- They are definitely opossum tracks. The reason why they do not look like the tracks referenced by a previous answer is because the animal was stepping on its own tracks as it walked. There is really no other suburban animal with footprints even remotely like an opossum.
- possum. If youve ever seen one walk, youd know for sure. They kind of sway. You probably have never seen them as they are nocturnal.
