Can anyone please tell me the name of a few artist that have made weird animal designs?
the design can be a sculpture, painting, drawing, oil on canvas etc. the animal has to look weird, distorted, unusual and it could be non-existent. if you don't really understand what i want, here are a few examples: http://www.markryden.com/paintings/treeshow/paintings/yoshi. html http://www.asianart.org/collection.htm (Third picture going up from the bottom) Thanks in advance

- I exactly find myself thinking of old SF illustration: in particular my favorites John Schoenherr and Jack Gaughan. John Schoenherr was the first artist to take a crack at Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight and Frank Herbert's Dune stories, though you are likely only to have seen the latter. Or if you're very lucky his illustrations for Sterling North's Rascal which aren't weird. Here's something else he did: http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-139b.jpg Gaughan did a LOT of Ace Book covers. Here are some samples: http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-111b.jpg http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-113.jpg http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-125b.jpg http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-127a.jpg http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-141a.jpg http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/M-series/M-141b.jpg Actually, I got a 404 error on your first link, so if this isn't what you want I'm sorry. EDIT: Picasso, especially when surrealism was big, went beyond his usual cubist approach to everything and did animals and mythological creatures with considerable creativity.
