Do I need to set LCD TV Resolution to the maximum (Even though my video file resolution is low)?

I have LNS4695D Samsung LCD. It stated in the manual that the recommend resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. Is it necessary to set it at this maximum resolution? Is it true that the Refresh rate value (Hz) determine how smooth the video playback? Most of my video file have resolution of 960 x 600 or lower. Is it true that as long the LCD TV resolution is greater than video file resolution, the picture quality that display on the screen will be all the same? Thanks alll

  1. It doesn't really matter if the video you are playing back is lower than what the TV's resolution is. As long as the TV is set to a higher resolution it should work fine and would really have the same quality as if you turned down the resolution. Your best choice is to just leave all the settings set at what the manufacturer sets them at, the know what will work and look the best. You are also right that the refresh rate determines how smooth playback is but once again, just leave it at the default. It wont make a lot of difference if you change that setting. I hope this answered all of your questions and helps!
