How can I make a video clip into a GIF file on a MAC?

I have an apple macbook and I would really like to put a video of myself as my display picture on myspace because I've seen some people do it and I think its cool.

1. I don't have QT Pro but it might Save As GIF file, run a search for QuickTime Pro GIF or something like it. I opened a .mov file in Graphic Converter and it lists GIF in File > Save Copy As along with numerous different files. You can also run a search for mov or avi to gif converter at versiontracker.com or macupdate.com
