MSN display pictures gone after reformatting?

Hi, I am currently using Windows Live messenger and I was wondering if the display pictures are saved in the messenger. Because I'm about to reformat my computer and I was hoping that the display pictures wouldn't disappear after that. Thank you.

1. I dont think that they are. I went to my friends house and i got on my msn and i had no pictures. :( I dont know tho, it might work but i dont think it will.
2. If you format a harddrive MSN any non windows apps and any personal photos are wiped. So you will lose them. Back um up surley you can burn them to a CD or put em on a flash drive! So yes they will be lost.
3. im pretty sure they save some of your display pics on the msn servers. I went to a guys house and signed in and my picture was there. Never been to his house so they must. It was a slightly old picture though (not my most recent msn pic). Just backup all the stuff you want man
