We are reading "Soldier's Heart" with my Language Arts kids, a book about the experiences of a Civil War soldier, and to illustrate the battle of Bull Run I wanted to show a funny video I found on YouTube, but my wife insists that it's very disrespectful to an event in which thousands of people died. Now I'm confused. Would it be ok if I did?

Funny ways to do household chores? For a spanish video, we need to do chores and speak in Spanish. Any funny ideas? Our idea is a couple of kids turning their house into a Bed and Breakfast while their parents are out of town. We have to clean the house and then get ready for the customers to come. How often do you take the time to video your kids? We had our youngest son's 2nd birthday last week, and it was then that I realised it had been my eldest son's birthday 4 months earlier when I last took video footage of them. They grow and change so quickly, I really should make a lot more of an effort to catch it on video. How often do you capture those everyday funny moments?!! With my first I had the video camera out constantly! I hate to say it, but with our 3rd I would only probably have half as much footage of him.

Idiots with horses making videos? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlNybGMigfQ Does anyone else not find videos like this funny in the least? You see stuff like this on YouTube and America's Funniest Home Videos all the time and all I can think about with the bigger horses are the dangers involved in getting thrown off especially without a helmet, or caught in a stirrup, etc. THIS video cheeses me off to no end, though. The kid is easily double the size of what a Mini should be carrying, and looks to be a young horse at that-far too young to be ridden! They used to have a comment up under this video telling people to back off, because according to them Minis can carry THREE TIMES THEIR OWN WEIGHT. To me, this is just borderline abuse. Does anyone else think this sheer idiocy should never be allowed near the internet or horses again?

Obama and Hillary as kids running for class president - the video? I remember seeing on CNN or another news channel a brief flash of a video that showed the political race as a run for class president with kids portraying the politicians. Why do parents allow their preschoolers to watch violent videos or games? If you allow your one to five year old child to view violent programming, tell me WHY!! And, is there anything I can say to help you see the damage violent movies and video games have on your child? I am a disgusted preschool teacher. I have had it this year at preschool. Parents just allow their kids to play violent video games. And many watch movies such as Freddy Krueger and Chucky. (FYI, the Bride of Chucky was considered to be soft-porn if they used people instead of puppets). Some kids stay up on the weekends and watch "Adult Swim' on the Cartoon Network, they say it is funnier than the baby cartoons on earlier. The kids think school is boring and dumb, and the games are 'for babies'. These are 4-5 yr olds that will be struggling in Kindergarten because of their TV / video game choices. I tried to tell the parents the ill-effects I see in class, but they just tell me "what can you do? he likes those shows?" I just want to scream: BE THE PARENT!! turn it off !!!
